5.5 sketch challenge

Hello! Welcome to the next Sketchy Thursdays challenge. I wanted to take a second and say "HI!" to all the newbies. Many of you mentioned last week that you were new to our challenge. Some of you even said you were new to playing along with any blog challenge. WELCOME! We are so glad to have you here with us.

Here is the DT inspiration for the week.

Let's meet our May GDT member, Helen!

My name is Helen Tilbury & you can find my blog @ http://helentilbury.blogspot.com. I live in Durban, South Africa. The weather is more often than not hot & humid & you can find me tinkering away in my little home studio with my air-conditioning set to 21 degrees celsius! I have a wonderful & tolerant husband who allows me to pursue my vocation liberally & we share 4 precious children aged 17, 16, 13 & 10, plus 3 over-indulged fur babies (cats!).

I am currently part of the Challenge Design Team over at Scrapbook Challenges Ning community, Bird is the Word Word challenge blog, Pretty Paper Petals Australian embellishment manufacturer, Once Upon a Sketch international sketch/journaling challenge site & Inspired Blueprints sketch blog/Ning Community.

I am a work-at-home mum & could always make an extra buck as a taxi-driver as my kids have me driving all over the province regularly for sports matches & social activities! I am a fashion designer by profession but my love of scrapbooking & photography has long since superceded my love of fabrics.

I have enjoyed an enduring affair with pretty paper & embellishments for 7 years now & can't imagine a life without the smell of new papers & the anticipation of my next delivery of scrapbooking goodies in the mail!

I don't believe in labeling my style as I design to suit the mood & subjects of my pages, but I endeavour to always push my creative limits & constantly grow with my craft.

Here is Helen's page for this sketch reveal.

We welcome a new-to-us and fabulous sponsor this week, The Paper Trail!

Hi everyone, my name is Karen Garbacik, and I am the owner of The Paper Trail.

I have been paper crafting for over 13 years now and really feel that it is an invaluable service to my family and generations to come. I love the creative outlet it provides me and seeing the pages come to life gives me great satisfaction.

I have named my store The Paper Trail because I feel that scrapbooking is all about leaving a paper trail of you for your family and future generations to come. Webster’s dictionary defines paper trail as: documents from which a person's actions may be traced. Doesn’t that just sum up exactly what we do when we create a scrapbook page? We leave a trail of us—what we have done, who we are, etc.

I have created this store so that you have options available to help you create the best trail that you can. Our coordinated kits are a perfect way to spend less time choosing and matching papers, embellishments, etc. and allow you to get straight to the process! Our open stock items in the store will help you enhance and add those special touches to your projects that make them personal to you.

Thanks to you all and Happy Trail Makin’
~Karen

Karen is giving away a $20 gift certificate to The Paper Trail to one lucky winner who plays along with us this week. Link your entry to the Mr. Linky in the sidebar before 10 p.m. (EST) on Wed., May 11 to be eligible for this week's drawing.

Good luck, and can't wait to see what you all make with the sketch!

Welcome to Helen and The Paper Trail. I'm wondering, Helen, what does a humid climate do to scrapbook layouts?

Oh I am such a fan of Helen's work. Of course I am soo lovin the versatility of this sketch-Cant wait to get a jump on it!

Hi girls! Thanks for the welcome :) Lovely to be here!! Diana fortunately the humidity doesn't have a terrible effect on my layouts due to the fact that my studio & dining room (where I have my big bookshelf full of albums) are both air-conditioned during the really humid months. Rub-ons & Thickers are all that have ever been affected by the humidity - the rub-ons become temperamental & the Thickers lose their stick a bit but that is easily rectified :)
