Hi, I’m Heather Mills of A Scrappy Design: A whimsical paper boutique. I'm from Oklahoma City, Ok, and I started scrapbooking/paper crafting in 2000 when my BFF got me totally addicted.

I don't think I really have a specialty in paper crafting. I usually just create things as they come to mind. I love all the pattern paper. I hoard it actually. :)

My favorite trend right now is the mini album with different shapes and sizes of paper.

We Can't Wait!

Diana and I had so much fun giving away all the great prizes daily for our Grand Opening that we've got a taste for it now. We just can't wait a whole week to give you a chance to win something!!

So, here's what we're gonna do. Periodically, we're going to run special "Second Chance Challenges". And, we don't feel like pigeon-holing these fun little extras into specific days of the week or types of challenges because surprises are fun. And sometimes you just need a little extra inspiration.

We may run a color challenge on a Sunday, or give you a fun prompt to get the creative juices flowing on a Tuesday. We might go two weeks between second chance challenges or you might get two in one week! You just never know. Sometimes the challenges will be tied to the current Thursday sketch, sometimes you'll get a brand new special sketch. Are you catching my drift here? They're surprises! Plain and simple.

So, as if you couldn't guess, today is our first Second Chance Challenge!!

Make a layout inspired by Halloween or fall candy. You can wax poetic about your fave candy, rant about why candy corn is evil (I personally love it but I know some people don't), use the actual wrapper on your layout, use the wrapper or candy color, shape, or font as inspiration, WHATEVA!!! In fact, this last time she was even playing subconsciously, which was really funny! Here's a little bit more about Maureen:
I was lucky enough to experience a wonderful childhood living in Waipahu, Hawaii. I've had many great memories!! I now live in Washington State with my family. I have 2 wonderful parents, 2 beautiful sisters, a supportive husband, and 2 funny active kids! I work as a registered nurse part time so I can spend a lot of time with my family, especially my children.

I have been scrapbooking since 1997! I started scrapbooking my adventures as a college student and have scrapbooked ever since! In 2007, I was introduced to the world of Stampin' Up! through a workshop at a friends house and my addiction grew. I also started card making and been having so much fun since then!

My family is my inspiration these days. I want to tell our story. I also wish I had photos of my grandparents and my parents as children, but their many photos burned in a fire, unable to be saved. So it's very important for me to preserve my family memories to pass on to future generations and to tell the story of our laughter, happiness, love, sadness and even flaws.


Here is the card that Maureen did for the 9.24 Sketchy Thursdays reveal. I adore this! How cute is that bird cage, and the papers she chose are amazing!

I am from beautiful British Columbia (that's what our license plate says - LOL!), Canada :).

What I like best is making cute and pretty embellishments (oh, can't forget those Evalicious kits and tutorials) that my customers love so much. I love how this creates balance in my life right now. It allowed me to go part time in my other job as a home care nurse and to stay home the other days of the week.

Woohoo! It's Saturday and yes, I'm back!!! Hope your Saturday is shaping up well. Mine's being spent readying and then hosting a birthday party for The Boy and 25 of his closest 4- to 6-y-o friends and the accompanying parental units. For that kind of crowd I'm planning on some outdoor wet activities. Hey, at least it's only forecasted to be 103 degrees today. Yeehaw! But after last year's party with unsupervised hoodlums sweeties tearing through the kids' drawers and dumping out various games in the playroom, I'll take a little sweat outdoors for an hour rather than hours of it reassembling rooms later!!
